Fire / wear
Ask for the current sheet on the code you are using

Fire rating, wear class, and postforming limits are finish-specific. Do not copy a generic HPL spec into a project without the sheet for that code.

Fabrication

  • Condition sheets in the shop before cutting.
  • Use carbide tooling; support the sheet fully on the saw.
  • Balance the panel — same HPL or a balancing sheet on the reverse.
  • Keep grain direction noted on the cut list for rift and teak.

Finish guide

  • Matte: the default. Hides fingerprints better than satin woodgrains.
  • Satin: richer grain, more light. Better as a feature than a whole kitchen.
  • Soft-touch / AF: specify on doors that get grabbed all day.
  • Embossed textures are not postformable unless marked.

Care

  • Interior use only. Not for wet rooms as a counter substitute for stone.
  • Wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent. No abrasives on gloss-adjacent satins.
  • Keep hot pans and open flame off the face.
  • Edge failure is almost always moisture at an unfinished edge.
